In Pursuit Of
Essential Question: What are you in pursuit of?
In Pursuit of was an art contest by the J. Paul Getty Museum and Amplifier. In this project, students used photo and text to create powerful imagery to convey a message. Through the lesson plan provided, students discovered how to distill their thoughts on issues they are passionate about into just a few words and paired it with a picture they captured on the device of their choice.

Essential Question: Why do people move?
Our Project: Tell the migration story of our reading buddies through graphic novels.
In this collaborative 9th grade Humanities/ Multimedia Arts project, we traveled across town to City Heights each week to work as reading buddies with a middle school New Arrivals classroom of immigrant and refugee students. We helped support their literacy and language acquisition while supporting their conversational English. In turn, we interviewed them about their journeys to San Diego, all the while researching to learn more about the past and present of human migration. Ultimately, we brought all of our work to a conclusion by writing and creating graphic novels to tell the stories of our reading buddies.
